I just checked - randon image works like expected.

The images are not preloaded!! they are only not rendered anymore (that takes ~ 0.1-0.5 sec depending on the server!)!

preload != precached!

It's a random image - preload would mean that I know the image that has to beloaded next in advance. But a random image is normally embedded in a seperate HTML page - therefore no way to preload!

I was actually talking about precache. In earlier days, my precached random images used to load on 0.1 second like you said. But now they were taking more then 3 seconds each, and that's why I believe they're being generated again although they were already cached.

Since you said the random images are working like expected I believe there's something wrong with my system. I had over 13000 files in the 'cache' directory and maybe Windows/NTFS/PHP has some problem with that. Now I cleaned the cache to see if there will be some improvement.

13000 file on a windows system could maybe be a problem.
But I directly look for the cache file - not any listings of the cache before. Therefor I don't beleave that this is an issue.

If it takes 3 s to load it actually does not matter if the random image is created or not becauseit's normals less then 0.5 s!

You would have to debug this to find out why it takes that much time .
