in the pictures directory??

so if i want to create a new album, I can only do that in the pictures directory and if i want to create a new album in the TWG explorer should i select directory from the drop down menu at the top right and then give name and then click create? is that right?

and why is there a style.css in the demo directories, my newly created onles wont have that, so is this file necessary?

yes - this you might simply read the configuration page on the web site. It's explained there.

you don't need any files in a directory except the images.
But with the files (howto 0) you can make each folder unique. different styles, different config ...

the pics are displayed in a strip manner in the demo folders, is there any way to display them in a grid format?

you mean like in the html side demo? check the example folder - there is the config of this demo.
