Hi, I'm trying to setup nested password protected galleries. If I make one of these sub folders password protected with a different password then when I try and leave the folder (i.e. go back up one level) it says I haven't logged in to view this password. So it appears that one password overwrites the other.

Is there a way to stop this happening without having to enter all passwords in the lower level password.txt file?

Hi,

No - TWG does only store the actual entered password.
If you want to do something like that you have to add the passwords of the lower levels to the upper level password file.
You wrote it the other way around.

Would you consider a way of automatically managing something like this? Or am i setting my galleries up in a strange way? Perhaps an option in the admin panel to 'roll-up passwords to upper levels' that would then automatically insert lower level passwords into each higher level directory.

I've only spent an hour or so with TWG so far and it's by far the best gallery for what I need I've found.. excellent work.

Your setup is fine.

I didn't want to have a complicated password protection part. But you are right - I havent planned that e.g. folders that have subfolders may have different passwords.
But it kind of does not make sense for me because the user should not enter different passwords - this can only be hidden right now by adding it to the upper password file (that is then user friendly again).

Making a "quick" solution is not that easy too because e.g. the search has to check protection too.
The admin could "generate a password file from the ones below.
If you want to write this function - go ahead .
