I have nginx running on ubuntu 12.04 on a local server. My page load times are really slow. Is there any way I can speed this up? I am just testing right now, I plan to notify my users when everything is up and running (read: family).

I have wandered through the FAQs and howtos, and changed some settings, netting a slight speed increase. But not really where I want it to be.

Is there a 'detailed' configuration write-up on the options available, their settings, and what they do?

I can supply the url, and my config files if requested

There is a howto about optimizing TWG for speed. But you could provide some more details like how many images/folder you have and so on...

define slow. are all the thumbnails and preview images are already created?
Because folders where they have still to be created are of course slow...

How would I go about forcing the creation of the thumbnails, without a page view, and without crashing nginx/php-fastcgi?

could you document how to create thumbs directly (i.e. not with the web interface) using imagemagick? I think going via php is extremely slow compared to running a dedicated batch job.
Having my apache at 100% CPU is not fun...

you would have to create them with the same naming like I do.

But you can enable image magic in TWG as well!

Thumbnails are created only once. So it should not be on 100% so long.
