I would like to have random thumbnail images all over my site, the images will come from the gallery.

Currently i can only seem to have the images as bitmaps not as thumbnails or jpg files.. so they are way too big in file size.

If anyone can help point me in the right direction would be happy, as i cant see that anyone has done this before.... its a bit of a challenge,

maybe you should read the howto about random images - It's all included already ;). Like the random image shown on the main site of TWG

even a random image module for joomla is included ;).

I have the random image part working but its generating bmp files and they are way to big, i want it to generate jpg or thumbnails, unable to find how to generate thumbnails, or jpegs.

So really slows site down a hell of a lot.

hi,

that's not the case - I never generate BMP.
Can you go the the main TWG website and check this on the random image on the first page.

I think you are using IE - IE sometimes do not recoginize image formats properly (although it is shown) and then if you use "save as..." it saves a bmp.

Can you recheck your random images with Firefox or Opera?

Which version of TWG are you using?

The random images are generated on the fly - therefore it sometimes take a while until they are processed - If you use the same size for the random images than for the thumbnail I reuse them and they are much faster.

make sure: $enable_random_image_caching=true;
is set in your config.php. then already generated random images are reused if they are picked again.
