I am a new user and I installed. But my session handler is on Database because when I changed it to none...it wouldn't let me log in so I had to change the configuration.php to put it back to database. Now that it is installed, it doesn't see any of my files. Where am I going wrong?

Joomla 1.5.14
JFU 2.10.4
Web server-Debian

I watched the video install guide. The first step was to set the session handler to 'None' however when I did that and clicked save, it logged me out and I was unable to log back in. I tried the admin and one other user and neither worked so I checked for a fix on that and i saw on the joomla.org forum to open the configuration.php file and change the session handler back to 'database' ... so I did and I was able to log in. So I just skipped that part of the install guide.

Next, I installed "successfully". Then it mentioned if you don't see on the left hand of the JFU the Joomla root directory to log out and back in. So I did but I still don't see it even after being logged out for more than 2 hours.

I didn't change any of the configuration settings except, my upload folder is set to /images/stories

Here are some of my log file errors:
01.30.2010 17:32:38 - ERROR 2 in uploader/joomla_flash_uploader.class.php, line 398: session_start() [_a href='function.session-start'_function.session-start_/a_]: open(/var/php_sessions/sess_f8d00e0ffa163fc0320abfbb918dfd80, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2)

01.30.2010 17:32:38 - ERROR 2 in uploader/joomla_flash_uploader.class.php, line 400: session_write_close() [_a href='function.session-write-close'_function.session-write-close_/a_]: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/var/php_sessions)

01.30.2010 17:32:40 - Config call or illegal direct access or missing session settings - browser has to be closed to get a new session: PHPSESSID=f8d00e0ffa163fc0320abfbb918dfd80

01.30.2010 17:32:40 - ERROR 2 in , line 0: Unknown: open(/var/php_sessions/sess_f8d00e0ffa163fc0320abfbb918dfd80, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2)
01.30.2010 22:47:26 - It can be possible that someone tried to upload something without permissions! If you think this is the case the IP of this user is logged: 99.2.170.236. He tried to upload the following file: alisapic1.jpg

01.30.2010 22:47:26 - Or it is possible that the session handling of the server is not o.k. Therefore TFU simulates a basic session handling and uses the session_cache folder for that.

01.30.2010 22:47:26 - Directory session_cache could be created! TFU does now an internal session handling. Delete the directory session_cache to turn the internal handling off.

01.30.2010 22:47:26 - It seems that the session handling of the server is not o.k. TFU already tried a workaround that does not seem to work. TFU deleted the session_cache folder. Maybe it was created because of a wrong request! Please report this in the forum to find a solution!

The problem is that the session save path on your server is not set properly!

/var/php_sessions/sess_f8d00e0ffa163fc0320abfbb918dfd80, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2)

you either have to create /var/php_sessions/ and make it writeable
or set session.save_path in the php.ini to an existing directory.

If you are on shared hosting please ask your Hoster to do this because this is a configuration error!
