Hi

I got the same problem.

I installed first on my own machine - on localhost everything seems to work perfectly.

Then I took exactly same steps to install on our site's server. From there I always get the error:
"TWG Flash Uploader requires at least Flash 8.
Please update your browser."

Browser is working fine because the uploader is working from localhost.

Any ideas? I Ran out of them

Joomla! version is 1.0.13.

Thanks,
JR

Do you have search engine optimization enabled?
Do you get any Javascript error messages?

SEO is enabled.

I don't know if this is a Javascript error, but it says like this in browsers error console:
"SWFObject is not defined"

It's a javascript error.

SEO is the problem. I only support this right now for JFU for Joomla 1.5. The flash itself can already do this but the wrapper not.
2 additional parameters are needed and one of them is available in Joomla 1.5.

The detection is possible but much more complicated then in Joomla 1.5. I'll add this in the next build.

OK, Thank you very much for your time.
Maybe we should start to consider upgrading to 1.5 then..

You have the problem only in the frontend? Backend should work.

Thanks, I quickly tried turning off SEO as well, but it did not have any impact.. I'll try some more testing later this week.

Problem lies in both backend and frontend. I'm not sure, but i have a hunch that problem has something to do with file locations and incorrectly defined paths to them. Too bad that I can't read code very well..

If you still want to investigate this, I'll be glad to provide extra info, if you just tell me what you need. Can have access to our site too if needed.

In the backend normally SEO has no impact. Therefore the problem lies somewhere else too (SEO is frontend only - therefore there are 2 problems.).

First the backend upload has to be fixed. If you get the same error there too you should to to the page and then view the source code (html)
If you the the Javascript error with swfobjects too you have to search for swfobjects.js - check if the path is right and that the file is really there.

If you don't get any further you can contact me by e-mail.

did you only turn off seo in the config or have you removed the .htaccess files as well? Because then the backend could be affected too.

Hi again.

I finally found the reason for the errormessage. 8)

It seems that in our site new folders&files are created with very little permissions, (e.g. 600) so script swfobject.js was not available for execution. It took some time to found the reason, as the error message was little bit misleading. So the installation could maybe check also that there is enough permissions to this awesome component to operate

Thanks Michael for your kind assistance, without you I would have gave up hours ago! :) Danke schön!

Good.

The problem with the checking is that there are 1000 different configurations.
i'm only able to cover the main ones - but good to know that this could be a problem. i'll add this to the FAQ.

If you like JFU please vote for it at extensions.joomla.org/
Enter JFU at the search and rate JFU to make it more popular.

Thanks a lot.
