I'm having some issues using the uploader via SSL.

When I'm on the page where the uploader is embeded via SSL (https://) It will not upload.

As soon as I use the uploader non SSL it works....

What are some things I need to do to ensure this works correctly (I'm using the JFU Plugin)

Do you have a valid certificate? How far do you get? There is a howto about using TFU with https.

As far as how far I get...well I can get to the page with the uploader on it...it's just the upload never happens...immedietely states "Retry Failed" but only when I'm on the page via "https:"

For the certificate being valid it is a "self-signed" certificate....

Again I'll check out the FAQ and see what I can do...

Is a "self signed certificate" an issue here? I noticed in the FAQ it stated to use firefox and if it doesn't work then no https?...well the flash shows up it'll let me select a file...it just fails the upload....

It definitely is. because the flash cannot click on the "accept" button.
There was an Australian company which offers ssl certificates for free which are valid one year. Just google for it.

Turns out my partner was ahead of me on that one. He obtained a free certificate already last night. I tried the website again and it was functioning correctly and saw the e-mails from him working with some people setting up the certificates. All is well thanks!
