Hi,

1.6 is now released and I already have a nice todo list for 1.7 ;).

This release will be a refacoring and optimization release:

- Enhancing 1-day caching - especially the TopX!
- Removing code duplicates (removing bad copy and paste ;))
- Optimising php calls - try to remove php calls where ever possible (I already removed many in 1.6)!
- Adding http://www.electricprism.com/aeron/slideshow as new slideshow type ;).
- Adding support for imagemagick for better image quality
- Adding support for ffmpeg to extract previews from the videos!

Have fun using TWG

/Michael

Also a novel idea I thought of, would be if the images are stored in xml, and you can link to remote files, the possibility of making an end user upload ability that uploads to a free site, but stores the xml file reference for it locally.

aka: End user would 'upload' a file, that would send the file itself to image shack, as well as the cached version to imageshack, and retain only the xml location reference to it?

Just a thought.

Also helpful, would be the ability (in the field below each folder where it states how many files are contained per folder before clicking on it) show also how many sub folders are contained per folder.

My Gallery (4)(115)

----->Vacation (2)(15)
---------->Ocean (0)(7)
---------->Boat Ride (0)(8)
----->Uncle Tommy (0)(100)

Or some such, yah know.

why storing the image in xml - this does not make sense ;).

you CAN link to remote files - either to a remote folder or to a remote site that contains image links.

uploading to another site would mena to implement each of this solutions individually + you would have to know how they handle upload - most site don't have something like an upload flash and therefore this would not make any sense.

the number if images in each folder are shown - the folders not - that's true - maybe i add this to the album explorer too.

I'm aware of the fact that I don't completely know what I'm talking about, but hey, better to sound like an idiot and try, than feel like an idiot if I didn't. I suppose I should of said "Storing the image information via xml, even though the image itself would be stored on an independant server"

=P

And I was talking about an implementation of the "front end upload" that might be an option for "front end 'offsite' upload". So people could use the script, that don't have an awful lot of server space, but could still have a large gallery at their disposal.

I liked the idea.

It is very useful if an user that visit a site with TWG could upload is videos or is gallerys automatically.

What do you think to create a community builder?? So users could register them selfes in the site and then could upload their fotos and videos.

Once again, sorry for my bad english.

how should TWG upload files to a remote server? something has to be installed there anyway.
TWG does support remote files you simply have to configure it! Use the TWG Flash Uploader on the other site where you have a lot of space and then you are almost done ;).

About the community - self registration will come in one of the next versions - but I don't want to program a software like flickr and then give it away almost for free. These guys make millions and I should write the software for nothing, spending all my spare time?

I was speaking more of an implementation for a 'community upload' where everyone could upload to, say, your own photobucket account, instead of your webhosting account.

Or to imageshack.us, or some such. Some kind of free file hosting place, aye?

I think self registration would be something like this?
