Hi there I was wondering if you could tell me off the top of your head why I would receive this error?

PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in (directory) filefunctions.inc.php on line 1023

It happens everytime I select a specific folder on the gallery overview page on the front end, and displays the error when I select the folder and try to view the gallery. There are 4 Sub categories in that folder and only one of them seem to display?

Thank you in advance, and once again TWG is the best

how many images are in the gallery?
Because this normally only happens when really many images are on the server and the server is really slow.

This time can be increased in the php.ini - check the howtos for this.

Hi again, thank you for your response. There are about 2201 images on the site in total and it is growing rather quickly... Do you think this could cause some serious issues in the future? Thank you once again! -DeK

2200 is not very much. the first start could be a little bis slower (2-3 sec) but once the cache is build is should be all right.

30 sec is very long. You can read the howto about optimizing TWG for speed.
if all pages take that long.

Hi again, and thanks... do you think it could be image related? I noticed that when I try to open the latest uploaded images that started causing the problem in Photoshop I get an error: Invalid Jpeg marker? I did not upload the images and do not have access to the origonal files but realy just want to know if that could be the issue?

possible - maybe processing such image take a lot of time.

Another issue is that if you have a lot of new images the cache images are build at the same time. If your server only allows a certain amount of parallel php instances this could be a limitation too.

Is everything faster once the images are shown once?

Yes i believe so, when I initialy view the Gallery it is usualy a little bit slower, if you want to have a look at it go to www.wardiesweb.co.za and click on the water polo section. I have an idea the 'invalid jpeg marker' is causing this problem... I will look into it and find a solution, thanks for your help. You always make life so much easier! TWG, ftw~!

Why don't you turn on the cache?

if you go over the "no cache" text TWG even tells you how to do this.
It will just speed up your gallery by maybe factor 10 or 20 ... because everything is then only loaded once - and not 25 times ...

But only if you like ...

Just click on the no cache link to turn it on temporally - I could browse through the gallery with less then a second to wait ...

I used this site for a friend who sells the photos of sporting events to other parrents in his sun's school, he does this as a hobby and has administrative control... i am asuming he has been messing with the settings again  ... I will turn the cash on... Yes the gallery functions perfectly for almost 4 months now without any hassels :) and this issue we have with the "fatal error:" does not seem to be a real issue, just some minor amends.

Once again, Thank you. I will look into it sometime tomorow.
