Hello,

I am looking for a suitable image gallery for my web site that is based on Joomla 1.5. I need to organize 100,000+ images. They should be organized based on content in the IPTC metadata, especially by given keywords. My main questions are:

1) Is TWG capable of handling such an amount of images (100,000+)?
2) Is there a suitable search function for the web user to find images based on look-up of IPTC metadata information?
3) Does TWG integrate with JoomFish and CommunityBuilder?
4) Does TWG integrate with VirtueMart in order to sell images?

Thanks a lot for your comments,
Peter.

1. You would have to check the howto how to optimize TWG. The default installation does to much stuff like counting the number of images in each folder.
2. IPTC can be extracted as tags or captions. And this is searchable. But this is an xml based and not a sql search. So it is not very fast.
3. No
4. You can write small plugins which would add links to whatever you like.

TWG is not integrated into Joomla. I'm planning to write a nice wrapper like I did for wordpress (http://www.tinywebgallery.com/haidpark/bilder/)
But this does not solve anything of your questions.

Best,
Michael

I use a home web server for my !awesome! TWG gallery. I recently moved and ended up with a lame internet provider -- that is, they block port 80.

Long story short, I now am forced to use another port. So, the best option I found was to use domain forwarding, where my real domain has a frame pointing to a DynDNS host. TWG ends up seeing this DynDNS domain, which isn't the actual domain registered and in the URL, but the DynDNS domain instead.

Is it possible to get TWG to look at the URL for the actual domain name? Or is there a better way of doing this, while keeping my home-based server?

Thanks muchh

Last thing I did was changing "Sort albums?" and "Sort albums ascending? to false as shown in the image above (this time without regenerating image cache).

I do not think you have to adjust images to 100ppi, as the resolution is immaterial for web use - pixel dimensions are everything. The physical size of image is dictated by a monitor's dot pitch. The best way is to make sure an sRGB profile is embedded. Worse still is to leave the image in Adobe RGB or other space.

Thanks
