To get a nice clean look I have disabled a lot of things. What I failed to hide are:

* Caption menu item (dirty fix: empty string in lang file)
* Pipe char to the right of the caption menu
* Bandwidth icon (dirty fix replace with invisible image)

Have I missed where to hide these or do I have to go for the "dirty fixes"?

No - it's simple - it was not intended to hide .

why login without entering captions - if you don't like that you can hide the login .
and bandwith can not be hidden either.

But good point - I could hide the bandwith image in 1.4.

Your answere made me take a second look at config.php (after a good nights sleep) I had missed the option "$show_login"

Is there a way to get rid of the beveled border around the galleri images and around the images in the "big" view?

I have tried tweaking stylesheets for an hour with no luck. I got a grip on the drop shadow and the thin line a few pixels out. But the "sunken in" effect immediatly outside the images, can it be removed?

drop shadow is easy - check the config -
$enable_drop_shadow

because with background this look bad .

you mean wih galierie image the 1st page?
already in the config.php:

$hidemenuborder

most other styles are in the style.css - but look at the my_style.css and in the skins folder. This is a nice way to start - never modify style.css - put your stuff in my_style.css because this is included after all other style settings !

But I think you already found them .

And you could translate the rest of the swedish lang file .
1.4 does not have any new stuff for language
