yes i did that. i created a user named fred then i manually created a folder named fred chmod to 777 set his path in admin to pictures/fred but when fred logged in he did not see the upload link. do you follow me?

If the "fred" folder is empty, it won't show up in the gallery. (This would be a nice thing to change in 1.7 too perhaps. I messed around with this for hours trying to figure out WHY nothing showed up in the gallery when I had created the folder lol )

this is actually a feature to hide empty galleries - but you are right for uploading this is not a good. I think i'll remove this feature again.

I have made a change that empty directories are shown now!

now you can create a directory and upload images to it in the front end too!.

Redownload the latest version and update inc/fielfunctions.inc.php

MAN ... your fast on the keyboard there ! The abillity to give a user more than one directory / more than one folder in different catagories will take a bit longer? or is it something you can do in the near future? My business pretty much depends on this feature, but I understand programming is NOT simple ... because I can't even install this thing without your help :D

much harder - showing an empty dir is only one line - multiple folders is for sure a couple of days ...

I'll be patient 8)

I hope this will come out within a year, perhaps even within the next 6 months, but it will be ready ....WHEN it is ready.

You have already written a great script, thanks!

this year for sure :) - this release will have more then one release - i have many smaller points that are independent - therefore there will be a couple of 1.6.x versions until everything is in there and then this will be 1.7 ;).

Well that sounds GREAT !!

Speaking of ideas... it would be intergalactical cool if the users could "make friends" and have a "friends list" just like on myspace etc.

Also if I could put in an email for a new user, so they could get an email when someone wrote a comment.

The whole "community" is a very hot feature, but ofcause... I don't wanna push back the release of 1.7 untill 2011 because of all my ideas :D

It's easy to come up with the ideas, a lot harder to programe them ;)

REALLY ??? actually I've thought about ASKING you about that! ...but then I looked at my wallet.... and ... lol

Do you have an estimate for e.g. creating the solution we've been talking about with different catagories and one user having a folder in multiple catagories?

I probably can't afford it right now, but at least I'll know a price and I could come back to you on that, in the near future.

Great Michael.

Here's what I imagine:

• A visitor goes to my gallery
• sees the different catagories
• chooses "Paintings"
• Chooses "Julie"
• now the visitor will see julies paintings but also a "Photo" folder and a "Music" folder, because Julie also has items in those folders as well.

Perhaps the extra folders where Julie has items, could be listed with small thumbnailslist (or just a list with links to the other folders where Julie has items e.g. on the left side.

So when a visitor is looking at Julies paintings, the visitor will see the normal gallery, but now also a list e.g. to the left with other catagories where Julie has items. e.g. headline: "Check out my other items in these catagories:"

What do you think? Too complicated? Do you have a better idea for the concept of mulitiple catagories?

(going out, back in a few hours)

I think the important thing is the user handling - the link can be easily created by using image.txt in the folders ;).
