Having got a fully working setup on on my home machine I uploaded the whole to my domain server.
All is well except for a continuing problem in getting the TFU to work for me.

My first first attempt to upload receives this error:
Error 403/406: Copy the provided .htaccess file to the directory of the twg_flash_uploader.swf.

But when I add the .htaccess file, either by ftp or by unzipping on the server, the flash uploader fails to run leaving a page that looks like this:

h**p://www.mostly-harmless.me.uk/forumpics/twgshot.jpg

I cant see any errors in the log files.
Any thoughts?

flash is not 100% html upload compatible. Most servers don't care and most of the other ones can be configured with the provided .htaccess file. And there is the remaining 0.1 %

If the .htaccess file leads to your error then the commands in this file are not known by your server. You have to remove the .htaccess file.

I have actually no other help I can give you. You cannot use the flash uploader on your server. You can enable the html upload form by default in the config.

Sorry about that. The problem is described here:
http://weblog.bubbleshare.com/articles/ ... -headaches
But there they only have a solution how to fix this on a ruby and rail server.

Thanks for the quick reply Michael.
I rather feared this might be the case. But the HTML uploader works perfectly well so it's not a major problem.

seems the files on the server cannot be reached - does the upload work in the administration?

Best way to try if your server is handling the flash correct is installing the standalone version of tfu - you can donwload it from the website too.

simply extract it to a folder and give the upload folder write permissions.

I know that this error sometimes comes when a .htaccess file is somewhere around that prevents to reach the php files.

What you can do is to try to call the php files in the admin/upload folder directly. You should get an error that a direct call is not allowed or that you are not Not logged in!- but other error messagesare not good ;).
