#removed_broken_linkindex ... 727137.jpg

Will not show up, (one of the images located in the large image folder with around 3500 pics in it) But the links of the smaller folders work fine... any reason?

Well, in an attempt to fix the problem myself, I did what was mentioned before (in my "post your site here" thread) and downloaded the .xml file for that directory, and noticed there were two "</BESCHREIBUNG>" close tags, and there was a close tag, another xml entry, and ANOTHER close tag, so I removed the data after the primary close tag, and it worked fine.

I seem to be learnin' how this stuff works fairly well thusfar.

the problem is that php does not syncronize files during writing very well. Especially for big files.
I already added some code to detect basic problems but the problem is that php simply dies after a xml parsing error and I cannot do anything to fix this.

i'll try to overwrite the basic error handling of php because normally I can fix the errors in the xml automatically.

I have now written a small part where I can fix these kind of errors.
My problem is now that I don't know how your php fails.

When I test I simply modify the xml and make it wrong. Then I can detect this.
MAybe in your case php does completely fail and I canot do anything.

Can you please try to reproduce the error (by adding the stuff you removed ) and check if you get any errors in the log file (counter/_mydebug.out) or in the log file of the webserver. Because If I can detect it I can fix it .

If you don't get an error in the twg log file I think I make my detection random. Means I test each xml file one in a while if it is good. Then the error won'T be fixed right away but after a few clicks.

Well the error happened yet again, somehow.

I think it has something to do with pageviews, because once I get so many hits, this error will occur, and the main gallery becomes unreadable afterward.

In looking at the error log, the only thing I can think of that the error might be would be the "filename too long" error?

I was never really worried about the errors for resize, because I imagined there'd be thousand of them, and it wasn't too high a priority to resize each and everyone of them, so I was fine with the errors as-is.

I have fixed this in the latest build as well (dev5) - there I now check the xml once in a while and remove the stuff after the last </beschreibung>.

About your errors. Many errors are becuase the images are too big and most of the others because the filename is too long for the cache.

i'm thinking about using a different caching name (hashes). Then every cache filename is 32 chars long.

I don't know how quick it is to compute the hash of a file, but I had thought that it would take a considerable ..... wait, I see what you mean, store the hash via the xml, and use that as a reference for the cache.

Hmm... I unno, could work, I s'pose, but I'm not to concerned with the errors, so long as it works alright. :3

Just setup the php to do an md5 of it once, then store that setting in the xml, so the only thing the script would have to do is reference it the same way by adding something like



Where in it doesn't have to COMPARE the hash to match each time, it just has to be inserted.

the cache has nothing to do with the xml.

It would have to be calculated every time because when reading the dir content I have to do this when I try to access the cache.

In the xml it's no problem. The problem is in the (your) cache if the file names get very long ...

actually - this depends on the filesystem - I can't tell you the limit. You only see at the error messages if they are too long.

The thing's being hosted on a linux server, I forgot what the name of their file system is, but its not FAT, or NTFS.
