I know profiles allow different upload folders for different users. Is there a way to automatically create and assign each user a folder???

This will be a new feature in the next version.
There will be a master profile and user directories with their usernames are generated automatically.

But there is no date for this yet. TFU 2.8 has to be finished first.

Awesome. There's no date for it but would you say it's going to be a long time like a year, or not too long like a few months?

few months ;). Simply subscribe to the rss feed ;).
I just have to organize a wedding and 2 birthdays right now which keeps me really busy.

I think the implementation would take me ~ 2 days but I want to do it on base of TFU 2.8 because the whole structure is changing right now... and I don't want to do it twice.

Hi,

I have just seen this post and I feel really happy about your plans! Automated user directories and so on...

But this feature only makes sense if it is possible to integrate the Joomla Flash Uploader to JCE as a file manager. Or there has to be sort of a bridge to the JCE Component in order to switch root directory for a specific JCE-Group temporarily. Do you think this is possible? I am looking forward to hearing from you!

I have to check this - But I won't make a solution that only works for one of the many editors around. If somone like it for this one editor he has to implement this by himself. With the plugin this should not be very hard to do...

Hi, me again!

I'm sort of developing a thing in flash that is going to really depend on user-specific folders. When you implement this feature into JFU, how are the folders going to be named? I'm constructing my flash to work with folders named after the id number Joomla gives them. Are you taking a similar approach? Just today I set it up so that when a user registers, the folder is made. All I need now is for them to be able to upload to it

But you could easily extend JFU to your needs - simply attach the id to the upload folder.

My version would take longer to make because I have to do the whole backend configuration as well. But you only have to attach one simple string where the upload folder is set.

I cannot do this right now because I always update the whole compontent with the latest version of TFU and I'm refactoring this right now and this is not finished yet. When TFU 2.8 is ready JFU will be available a couple of weeks later.

I have to finish TWG 1.7.5 + the new website first. Then TFU 2.8 and then i'll start with JFU 2.8.

I think for sure this year ;).
