HI!

I'm changing the $default_language (last line of my_config.php, and config.php) and it isn't being recognized by TWG. It always appears in english (although I set the values to "de", "es", etc...). What may be the problem here? It doesn't make any sense to me !

:?:

Thanks,

siran

Well, in fact in fact I think the gallery is remembering the last choice of language from the combo box, although I refreshed the web page.

I think "kind of" the same thing was happening with the $default_big_navigation, because although I had set it to DHTML it was still working as normal HTML.

... I deleted all cookies from my computer so that's not it. I deleted the cache (image and sessions) with the Admin so that's not either.

Could you please help me ?

thanks,

siran

The first coice of TWG is your default language you set in your browser!!!
only if TWG cannot detect this then it used the default language you set in the config.

The documentation at the default language tells you this: "The gallery is started with this language if no language from the browser can be read."

why do you want to overwrite the language of the user?

You don't know which language the user speaks best.

You can of course disable the auto detection. Simply remove the code that does this.

Hello Michael,

I have several clients that have english windows (XP x64 doesn't have portuguese version), but want to use portuguese in twg.

Can you tell me where is the autodetection code so I can remove it?

Thank you.

Jonathan

Ps: to solve (aka "juryrigging") the problem, I'm actually copying the content of the "br" files into the "en" files, and moving the rest of the languages to the "extra" folder.

it's in the index.php - quite at the top.

But your user only would have to set their preferred language in the browser to Portuguese.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

The browsers are in portuguese (firefox portuguese version).
So I can't understand where is the problem.
I thought that twg was reading windows's language, not the browser's.

Any ideas before I change the code?

Regards

Jonathan

I'm checking HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE
If this is not set I use the default language.

Try to set

$default_language = 'en';
to your language. Maybe the browsers have not set any preferred language.
