I'm not totally sure.... but I think this problem is related to JFU --- after I set Session Handler to None. Never noticed the following things happening before I did that...

I have several Joomla sites, all with JFU and do not have this problem with any of those. But I installed JFU almost right off the bat.

Problem - I get logged out of the admin side after only a few minutes of inactivity. After this happens, I usually have to sign in twice to get back in.

First time gives always an error message,
second time usually I can sign in -
but frquently I get the dreaded "Invalid Token" message. When that happens I have to shut the browser down - and sometimes need to clear cache before I can log back in.

I had a different site recently that gave me Invalid Token messages and I could never get any fix for that - had to do a complete re-install of the entire site. So that frightens me to see "Invalid Token"

Another problem -- that may or may not be related -
when I sort articles or modules by a category or position or whatever - as soon as I Save and exit an item, it reverts the list back to the entire alphabetical list, instead of the specific items I had just defined. So that causes me a lot of extra and aggravating keystrokes to search again if I need to change another item in that group. None of my other sites do that.

Please give me some feedback - Thanks!

For me it seems the JFU is not related to any of your problems.

Because setting the session handler to none does not activate JFU in other areas of Joomla.

Have set the session handler back to database? Do you still have this problems then?
I think that maybe on this one server the session handling does not work correctly.

Thank you for your reply.

After making the following changes the problem is solved:

In Joomla/Global Settings, Cache was set to NO - I changed it to YES
Cache Time unchanged - set at 45 minutes
Session Lifetime at 60 minutes
Session Handler set to None
----------------------------------------
Compared my php file from a site that's working with this one.
Session Save Path was set simply to /tmp in this one (and there was a folder there at /tmp)
however in the site that works well, it is set to /home/users/web/----/pow.mysite/htdocs/cgi-bin/tmp
so I changed that too.

I believe it was the session_save url in the php file that was the problem.

Which way should the Cache YES/NO setting be? Was on NO, now on Yes.

JFU has become one of a few plug-ins that I immediately install on every new Joomla site I build. LOVE IT

Thanks again.

The cache setting should not make any difference.
