I need to keep the width of the gallery and it's contents within my template content area which is 775 pixels wide. How/where do I do this??

i am trying to do the same thing!

by inserting the following into my_style.css:

Code:
html, body.twg {
  vertical-align:top;
  height:10%;
   width:700px;
  margin: 0px;
  padding: 0px;
}

it will constrain the width to a certain extent however i need it smaller! (700 pixels)

there is some width value which is overriding the 700px i am trying to do(?)

can i remove the top bar that says "Please select a gallery. / Upload" etc too?[/code]

I tried the code you provided (thank you very much), and I set the parameters to 300 pixels to test and it did not seem to make a difference.

Regarding top bar text, I have been able to turn off most options in the Config, but for can't find "Please select a gallery/Upload" yet either.

What would really help is being able to remove the background image (I am in the default "Holiday Pictures" gallery provided) that violates my template, and also where do I get that cool fanned-out page (Flash?) thumbnail used in some of the demo's. Any thoughts? I may have to re-post elsewhere

try setting the skin to "Transparent"

that should help with any template problems.

I tried Transparent Skin, and No Skin, and I keep getting this huge, repeating image in the background.

Are you playing around with my demo gallery folders?

because some have a background image in the folder.

Please read howto 0 first and then try with a new empty album!

And if you want that the gallery has 775 px simply put it into anything that has 775 px. (iframe, table/div if you use php include ).

or do you only want to have the gallery stanalone with a width of 775px?

Make sure to delete overview.htm where I have defined an example which uses a width of 740px. Without deleting this you will always need more than ~ 800 px.

I looked over your overview.htm file...it doesn't have a specified width inside of it. All I see is

Code:
<?php
// here you can add your own text, ad's or whatever you like.

echo "<style type='text/css'>";
echo ".twg_overviewhtml { vertical-align: bottom; padding: 5px;  color:#777777;}";
echo ".twg_overviewhtml a:link { color:#777777; }";
echo ".twg_overviewhtml a:visited { color:#777777; }";
echo "</style>";
echo getLinks();
?>

Are you sure it is this file that causes the overview to be 740px in width?

Yes - simply delete the file as I write in the demo text.

This is an example file how to place something on the main page.
