Quick question, is there a way to remove the top bar on the overview/thumbnail pages that says 'please select a gallery' (space) and then has three or four language icons (all the way to the right?)

Thanks in advance

Sure. You can set

$hide_top=true;

If you only like to hide the languages remove all language files except the one you like.
Or set $show_breadcrumb = false; to only hide the breadcrumb.

Great thanks! Quick followup, once the top is hidden, the whitespace at the top feels bigger. Is there a way to bring the gallery up?

Added a screenshot and marked the extra white are with blue lines***

Thanks, attachment 2 is what firebug showed

Attachment 1 is a possible clue as to the same big white gap at the bottom. I took a screenshot of what happens when the mouse hovers over the blank area and it seems to be some kind of hits grap.

EDIT: its also worse on some pages than others. for instance #removed_broken_link is very bad, while #removed_broken_link is manageable. There are no differences that I can see in how the pages are coded.

This is the hits counter you can simply tun off.

But I don't think this is because of your gap - because this is on an extra layer.

Do you may have specified a block level element somewhere?

Sorry, I use dreamweaver and am not great at coding. Where would I look to see if I specified a block level?
On a related note, it appears fine in Firefox (the previous screenshots were in chrome)

EDIT: also my 'show hit counter' option is set to false already...

Sorry to be a pain and thank you for all the prompt replies, but I do not see where the option is. Under 'functionality' I see "show the counter" which is set to false. I cannot find any other options. Is it something I need to type into the additional page?

you have to set:
$enable_counter_details=false;

- Took me 5 sec to search for "counter" in config.php and find this setting. :).

Or on the config page:

Solved the original problem.

1) Set tablehight to 500 in both places.
2) Disabled attempt to detect thumbnails (this was causing 90% of the problem).

Thus, I just picked a combination of thumbnail size, number per row and number per column that looked nice in a 500 hight table and it worked.

That's fine.

I did not think about the auto thumb feature. I reserve some extra space and in your case this spaces added up...

Best, Michael
