Thanks for your reply. I am sorry for taking up so much of your time, but I am really concerned to find a workable solution. I have a few more questions:

php.ini for the TFU only: Is it enough that the suggested php.ini file only includes the necessary parameters such as memory limit, input time, execution time - or must it include other parameters as well?

Another question: I have for the time being turned off the "zip download" function, but noticed that if I select all files (28) and hit download, the process stops after each file, requiring the user to hit download again for each file. Isn't there any way to make the download continuing automatically, so that the download of the next file starts as soon as the previous has finished?

Thanks in advance for your patience and support.

can you answer my querstion first: Does changing the settings affect the server even when you don't use the download?

in php.ini you only specify the parameters you want to change.

and No. You have to accept each file. This is done so by flash itself an cannot be changed. Otherwise there would not be the need to offer a zip ;).

No, it doesn't.

And for the automation of multiple download: I should have figured...

then the creation of the 1 GB file is simply killing the server. So I would disable the download as zip as you already did.

You might want to create the zip offline and upload it for your users.

Again thanks for your advise. There is one problem with that however. The zip is compiled by 28 image files, together measuring 1GB+. Creating the zip offline would maybe reduce the size to 850 MB, which is too large to upload. Splitting it into several ZIP's is too demanding for the end user (not knowing how many files to add into each split archive to meet upload limits). So the default upload feature of uploading files separately is perfect.

That leaves the download problem. Can you hint what can be done server side to "work around" my problem, i.e. allowing large zip downloads without burdening the site too much for other users and not interfering too much with other accounts? Any hint is gratefully received.

One last update: After increasing all my relevant php.ini values for the site, I can now create the zip file with all 28 files included. It places itself in the Flash root however, and not in the same directory as the image files. Nor does it download. Is there any way of making the zip (at least) locate in the same directory as the original files?

Thanks again for your patience with me!

The zip is created in the main folder and deleted afterwards. So you could actually change the code that it is created but not deleted and that this provess is done in the folder of the files itself.
