you should implent some speedlimit into the gallery maybe not everyone want the full internet capability the get lost just cause they have a photo gallery if you have it more like privte then commercial and have thire business paid for server hosting Autoindex have some "simple" speedlimiter..

if you always want low bandwith you should simply set the normal values to the one of the low_ parameters.

TWG simply used different settings - the low_ settings if it detects a low connection.

Those parameters are in config (php) searched on this website/forum for low bandwidth but couldn't find it?
Are those parameters configurable, or a fixed amount Kb/s?
If so what amount Kb/s?

I want to use low bandwidth because I have 15 websites at 1 provider under 1 account.
If my gallery consumes all bandwidth it's useless.

I've used autoindex script with a free guest account at 5Kb/s,
it's multiuser so more users mean even lower bandwidth,
paid visitors get there own 5Kb/s, and it was easy for me to calculate how to spread my bandwidth across my sites.

I think you don't understand what low bandwidth means.

I do a speedtest on the client! if the connections is detected to be slow (~ ISDN) I use the low_settings (they are on the website -> support -> install) and in the config.php.

this gives users with low connections the option to see the gallery faster because less images are loaded.

If you always want to save bandwidth you should
1. use 1.6 beta 3 (i optimzed there a lot to save bandwidth and server load!)
2. simply turn of the bandwidth tetection and set the normal values that less bandwidht is used! (you can e.g. use the low_sessings as example).

Ah, we differ in principle:

-You want the userclient to go faster even if he has low bandwidth.
-I want to give (free) users low bandwidth even if he has a T1-T3

Found your script on hotscripts.com together with easyphpalbum of
http://www.mywebmymail.com and autoindex.

I wanted a script that I could use to:

- host old sharewareprograms (sort of old time bbs like i had in 1989)
with thumbails for pictures. (autoindex only)
- host picture/moviegallery (all3, yours and easyphpalbum can have
thumbnail also for movie (vidcap) ,
- host old postcards picture prints with shopsystem by email
(only easyphpalbum)
Same can be generated with pic on autoindex with same name.)
- login possibility both for free guests and paid visitors (autoindex en
easyphpalbum)
- possibility to limit bandwidth for free users (autoindex only)
- Upload possibility (all 3)

Also your script and easyphpalbum have hitcounters(autoindex also), ratingsystem, slideshow.
Maximum size in easyphpalbum is 2 Mb, yours is configuarable.

Seeing above requirements and possibility's, I should see
if I can adopt speedlimiter of autoindex to easyphpalbum and use
autoindex for multi-format directories (bbs) and use easyphpalbum
for picture/moviegalleries.

If it would be possible to see filename.extension (not picture)in both
your script and easyphpalbum I would see more uses for both.

BTW your installation procedure was excellent, uploading didn't work,
but have to put that .htaccess to use.

5kb/s - not a fast gallery .... even if a thumb has only 5k it still takes 10 s to load only 10 thumbs ...

It was just a example that 5 KB/s..
But it seemed attractive to me, limiting the free users,
with today's donwloadmanagers, teleport and so, they can rip
your site completly and leave you with a monthly bill for bandwidth.

I shouldn't be too concerned about that
I have 2100 Gb bandwidth a month.

And with twg you can offer any download (.zip or pdfs or ...).

And did the upload work after you put in the .htaccess file? (html fallback does actually work all the time!)

Free users have a login in autoindex f.i. guest-guest with a speedlimit, that's multiuser so more people can enter using guest-guest at the same time, but so limiting the bandwidth even more.
Paid users can have their own login with that speed (limit)

html fallback didn't work for me, have to put htaccess in yet.

if html fallback does not work you should check the permissions of the upload folders.

As I understand you have to make a jpg to make them visible to
download?
Or are they visible as filenaam.extension and can be downloaded?
That's the solution.

That's so in easyphpalbum, found that a drwaback how to make a jpg
of a program.

you need a preview image - in 1.6 you can actually generate theses preview images if you like. But this will be one of the bonus features for 1.6.
