Hello Support,

I have been searching the forums and HowTo's for a way to do the following two things.

1) When looking at an image in a gallery, is there a way to hide or remove the rotate controls next to the thumbnails? It is unnecessary for what we are doing and is confusing some people who actually think the controls are used to advance or "go back" a page. (Strange, but true.)

2) Is it possible to have the caption (image.txt info) for an image be displayed below the image name rather than above the name?

Thanks for your continued support of this awesome program!
(The deeper I get into this the more I see the granular controls that you have built into it.)

Hi,

1. This is the backend: Show rotation buttons

2. info.txt can be shown over/below or next to the image.
But if you like it below - why don't you simply use the caption by login in the right upper corner and click on 'Caption' ?
If you still want to use image.txt: $image_txt_position is where you can set the place.

Full text search in the config.php is always a good idea.

Wow... can't believe I missed that setting. Thanks.

2. info.txt can be shown over/below or next to the image.
(I knew that.)

Where is that info stored? I tried that to see what it would do and now I need to change it back.

If you still want to use image.txt: $image_txt_position is where you can set the place.

Yes, but that just sets the image.txt info to the top bottom or side of the photo, correct?

What I want to do is the following:

Photo

John Doe (image NAME)

Chess Club; Scuba Club, etc. (image.txt info)

Not...

Photo

Chess Club; Scuba Club, etc. (image.txt info)

John Doe (image NAME)

(I have $image_txt_position set to show the image test at the bottom of the image, BUT... I want to display the image.txt information BELOW the name of the image, not above it.)

Thanks.

The caption is stored in xml files in the xml folder.

If you want it below the caption "bottom" should work.

I checked the code

$image_txt_position = "bottom";

should display the text after the caption.

Michael,

I figured out how to do what I needed to.

I was naming a file 000_Michael Abrell.jpg and my image.txt file started with 000_Michael Abrell.jpg=whatever text I wanted to show...

(It was easier to keep track of which face goes with a file name)

But...

By changing the name of the file to 000_.jpg and the first line of the image.txt file to 000.jpg=Michael Abrell<p>whatever else I wanted, etc.
it now shows the photo, the person's name below that and then the other info from the image text file.

Yes, here is an example of what I was doing originally:

image.txt file snippet looked like this:

000_Michael Richard Abrell.jpg=Hi-C 2-4; German Club 3; etc...
001_Roy W Akin.jpg=Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; more text

and of course I named the files 000_Michael Richard Abrell.jpg and
001_Roy W Akin.jpg etc.

Now the image.txt file looks like this:

000_.jpg=Michael Richard Abrell<p>Hi-C 2-4; German Club 3; etc...
001_.jpg=Roy W Akin<p>Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; etc, etc...

By using the person's name as part of the text to be displayed and a
paragraph tag <p> the name is displayed above the image text
(info) anout the person.

With 472 names, it will take a while to make the changes, but I found
a mistake I made anyway.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have tried to make this:

I set

$image_file_is_multi = true;
$remove_x_chars_from_filename=4;

then I have 2 files in the folder called:
000_Michael Richard Abrell.gif
001_Roy W Akin.png

and an image.txt with

000_Michael Richard Abrell.gif=Hi-C 2-4; German Club 3
001_Roy W Akin.png=Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; more text

And it displays fine. Is your setup different?

Hi Michael,

I may not have explained myself very well. Please go to:
#removed_broken_link and select the Class of 1969
gallery

If you click the first person's photo (Michael Richard Abrell) you will see
that his name is directly below the photo and then the activities that
he was involved in are below his name.

Now click the second picture in the group (Roy W Akin) and you will see
that his activities are directly below his photo and then his name is below
the activities (which is not what we want - we want the photo, then the
person's name and then the activities)

And here are the first two lines of the image.txt file as it right now:

000_.jpg=Michael Richard Abrell<p>Hi-C 2-4; German Club 3; Student Council 4; Intra-Murals 2-4; Assistant 3-4.
001_Roy W Akin.jpg=Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; Pep Band 2-4.

And yes, my setup is the same as yours:

$image_file_is_multi = true; <- set in the config.php file
$remove_x_chars_from_filename=4; <- set at bottom of my_config.php file

I guess my original question should have been...

If my image.txt file says:

001_Roy W Akin.jpg=Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; Pep Band 2-4.

and we are removing the first 4 characters from being displayed...

is there a config setting that changes the relative positions of

Photo
image text (Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; Pep Band 2-4.)
image name (Roy W Akin)

to this...

Photo
image name (Roy W Akin)
image text (Chess Club 2-4; Band 2-4; Pep Band 2-4.)

I hope this helps.

No - this should not be the case. And it is not on my install.

So it's displayed properly at the first image but not for all the others - there the order of the display is wrong.

Where have you set
$image_txt_position='bottom'; ?

only in a custom config.php of the folder or in the my_config.php?

But the first image is called 000_.jpg - Therefore no automatic caption is shown and only the text of the image.php.

The caption is always below as I can see in the debugger.

/Michael

I just searched for $image_txt_position= in both config.php and my_config.php and the only one I found was line 228 in config.php set to $image_txt_position='image'; and I think that is the default, right?

Maybe that is the problem. I have never changed it to 'bottom'.

I need to go back and re-read the documents after I have had some sleep. I have been going on just a few hours sleep per night for the last week.

There probably is no problem with the program. It is most likely that I have not configured this correctly, and I am very sorry for taking so much of your time with this.

Are you saying that when set up properly, the correct sequence of displaying the text at the bottom is:

1) The image
2) Image name below the image
3) Image text from the image.txt file?

Also, I was not aware that you could set up a "custom config.php of the folder". Very good programming, by the way.

My background is here:

Setting $image_txt_position='bottom'; displays the text below the caption.

Try that.

Thank you very, very much! That fixed my problem. When I was reading the HowTo's, I saw that the choices were top, side or bottom. I did not understand the correlation between the image name and image text when selecting the bottom setting.

I should have tried that.

most important is that it works. TWG has really many configuration options. Even I have to look up them :).
